WHO? Sisters and co-founders of Artisan Lab, a Delhi-based concept store and café that combines modern-day aesthetic and functionality with traditional craftsmanship.
HOW? It all started in 2018 with an idea of curating work of artisans and home-grown creatives, all under one roof. We brought together different elements in design, food and hospitality to forge this brand with a fondness for the artisanal.
We curate beautifully and carefully designed objects and curiosities for everyday living, as well as special indulgences. The brand houses décor accents, art, accent furniture, lighting, tableware, bar ware, serve ware, lifestyle accessories and clothing. Food was always an integral part of the experience that we wanted to bring forward — the Artisan Lab café is a seamless extension of the store.DESIGN PHILOSOPHY The focus is on simple products that are design-minded, and in which the artisan’s craft is vividly evident.
Our collection features distinctive limited edition pieces created in collaboration with emerging artists, designers and artisans.
CHALLENGES No journey is smooth and we have had our share of roadblocks like the Delhi sealing drive, exploring plastic- free packaging solutions, vendor management and now Coronavirus few. But our focus remains on marrying craft, culture and design with a contemporary aesthetic.WHAT’S NEXT? We’re only 9 months in and we’ve received a lot of appreciation. We’re looking to expand to other locations and grow our sustainable product range.
