Content: What is the look about?
The table is styled for a lunch setting; hence the core essence of the tablescape is to keep it relaxed yet elegant. The theme for the setting is French blue and white country, enhanced by bringing aspects of nature with hues and elements of the ocean.
What is festive about the look?
Blue and white is a classic colour story that is always fresh and festive to the eye. The hand painted patterns and motifs on the ceramic ware, teamed with flowers arranged in cobalt blue vases give a joyous, soothing and celebratory aura.
What are the design elements?
We opted for the natural textured grains of the wooden table as the base instead of a tablecloth to achieve a country chic look. We complimented the wood with crisp, white cotton table mats and napkins from our collection with sheer and delicate accents of organdy on the border. The tableware is hand painted ceramic plates in intricate, bold blue patterns on a white base, teamed with natural mango wood serve ware in the same colour palette, highlighted with gold flatware. Accents of blue and white Chinoiserie pottery, coloured blue glassware, marble platters with precious blue agate stones, Discus fish shaped plates and blue coral prints on our lazy susan take you back to the ocean. For the centerpiece, we used our cobalt blue vases in different sizes arranged with white hydrangeas, green anthuriums, magenta lilies and carnations to give a vibrant contrast. The refractive nature of the glass vases creates a glimmering visual effect of watery hues. We also used dried wheat grass stems along with jute to tie the napkins and placed loose seashells to complete the look.
Need tips/advice for people trying to replicate this look.
Blue and white is a colour pairing that never goes out of style or season. Investing in tableware in this palette will be quite handy and versatile. To replicate this look, begin by styling your centerpiece with fresh
flowers that compliment your vases teamed with classic white table linen. Flowers and foliage make a table setting, and without spending a fortune you can dress your table with flowers, leaves and Branches. Feel free to replace the tableware with all white if you don’t have a blue and white set and pair it with blue table linen instead. We have used simple jute strands along with dried wheat grass stems instead of napkin rings to create an earthy feel. Throw some loose seashells around the table or replace with loose white flower
petals if you can’t get your hands on some shells. Vibrant glassware is a trend that is here to stay and truly brings life to any place setting. You can also add a personal touch by adding name cards for each
Guest. Finally, all that’s left to do is unwind with loved ones with a delicious spread and some soothing blues music.
